Cannabis cultivation · Monthly METRC compliance count

Prove your METRC count in minutes, not days.

Your team already has RFID on every plant — the METRC tag the state issues you is an RFID tag. Senitron reads those tags with a handheld scanner, compares what it read against the exact METRC export you downloaded that morning, and tells you the tag number of anything that does not match. Room by room, on the same license, with a permanent record for every count you have ever run.

The export lives in the top-right toolbar. The download arrow gives you Export to Excel — that .xlsx is the only thing Senitron needs. The Tag column becomes the RFID number and the Location column becomes the room.

Why this matters: the export is your snapshot of truth. Everything the scan is measured against comes from this file, so the comparison is always against what METRC said at the moment you started — not a stale copy.

Upload it to the Senitron portal

Open Cycle Counts, click New, drop in the XLS. Senitron reads the Tag column as the RFID number and the Location column as the room, then creates a cycle count record with an expected list for every room — ready for the scanner.

Every line carries the tag number, who scanned it, when, a reason code and a free-text note. Reason codes can be entered on the handheld, standing in the room or later in the portal — the trail records which, by whom, and when either way. Export it and you have your destruction and adjustment paperwork for the month.

Walk the room with the handheld

Open Inventory, choose Validate Expected Inventory, pick the room. The scanner already knows what METRC says should be in there. Pull the trigger and walk. The screens below are live — press Start RFID and then tap an exception to see the locator. The handheld in this walkthrough is HH-56.

The whole loop — try itPress Start RFID. Or use the back arrow to open any room, then Locate a missing tag on the map or record its Reason without leaving the room.

Run it at full power

No need to dial the reader down room to room. The scan is filtered to the expected list for the room you picked, so a tag that bleeds through a wall from next door is discarded rather than counted. Full power, walk faster, fewer passes.

Scanning twice is safe

Duplicate suppression means you can walk the room a second time, or hand the scanner to someone else mid-count, and the number never inflates. Walk it as many times as you like.

Tags in the dirt or under leaves

A tag buried in media or wrapped in canopy may not read on the first pass. That is exactly what the Geiger locator is for — and if it truly cannot be found, it becomes a documented exception instead of a mystery.

Reconcile, adjust, and keep the record

The moment the last room closes, the count is on the portal. Scroll up to the Cycle Counts screen and open CC-2026-08 for a clean month, or CC-2026-07 to see how a month with ten missing plants gets documented and adjusted out of METRC.

If the state audits you

Open the count for the month in question. Expected, counted, variance, who scanned each room, when, and the tag number of every exception with its reason code. Retained seven years, exportable to PDF or Excel.

Four locations, one account

Each site is a location, each room is a zone underneath it. One login shows you all four, and your existing retail account sits alongside them without interfering.

What you already own

The METRC tags are already RFID and already compatible. If you buy the entry-level handheld rather than the long-range unit, your plants are at table height and well within range — you do not need the expensive reader.

The one thing to take away: when METRC says 11,233 and you scan 11,233, you have proof. When it says 10,545 and you scan 10,535, you get ten tag numbers, not a shrug — and a documented reason for each one before you touch METRC.
