The return comes from labor saved on counts, searching and transfers; sales recovered from items that were in the store but not on the floor; less over-ordering because reorders use real quantities; lower shrink; and fewer failed online orders. Retailers often tell us faster, audited transfers alone would have justified the system. The fastest payback comes from high-value or high-theft categories.
